We text our own school bus drivers, on the mobile number each driver gives us on their employment paperwork. We do not text anybody who does not drive for us, and we do not buy, rent or collect numbers from anywhere else.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile numbers and text messaging consent are never sold, rented or shared with anybody. A driver's number is used only by our own office, and only to send that driver notices about their own testing. The phone carriers handle the message in order to deliver it; nobody else ever receives the number.
That the driver has been selected for a federally required drug and alcohol test, or booked for a DOT physical examination; which collection site to attend; and a question asking whether they are going that day. Drivers answer YES or NO. Nothing is advertised or sold.
Only when a driver is actually selected or booked - for most drivers a few times a year. If a driver has not answered, the same question is sent once a day, between 7am and 6pm, until they do or until the office stops it. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message and no further texts are sent to that number. Reply HELP for help, or ring the office on the number above. Stopping texts does not change anything about a driver's employment or their testing obligations - the office will simply ring instead.
The messages sent and the driver's replies are kept with that driver's own records, because they are the evidence of what the office asked and what the driver answered. They are seen only by the office and by auditors entitled to see the driver's file.
